Inaugural spree before GHMC polls

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will be spend the next three days crisscrossing twin cities to either inaugurate or lay foundation for several works of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

Among those projects slated for inauguration are the long delayed Sitaphalmandi flyover and Muslim Jung bridge. While stones are to be laid for several housing colonies in different areas including the Rs. 1,190 crore Vishishta Township at Bahadurpally, Rs. 460 crore Senior Citizens Housing Colony and model units of Sahabhavana Township at Bandlaguda, both by Rajiv Swagruha Corporation.

The spree of programmes is a prelude to GHMC polls to be held next month and an election notification is expected to be issued later this week.

On Tuesday, Dr. Reddy will also be inaugurating LIG Housing Colony in Bandlaguda built by the A.P. Housing Board (APHB) at a cost of Rs. 21 crore, Sewerage Treatment Plant at Noor Mohammed Kunta. He will be laying foundation for Rs. 33 crore Housing Colony by GHMC at Bandlaguda and for the Rs. 61 crore Rethibowli-Aramgarh road.

The Chief Minister will also be visiting the ORR and inaugurate a model Urdu school built by the A.P.Housing Corporation behind Falaknuma Palace.

On Wednesday, he will lay foundation for a Rs.200-crore UGD scheme at Chandanagar, power sub-stations at Balkampet, GTS Colony and Osmania University besides roads at Moosapet and Borabanda. On Thursday, stone will be laid for Rs. 22 crore storm water works near Prakashnagar being taken up under funding from the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Scheme (JNNURM).

Other programmes are foundation for Rs. 25 crore Sanjeevaiah Park Road over Bridge by HMDA, open new water pond and park below Khairatabad flyover, stone for major tunnelling work by Water Board near GHMC head-office costing Rs.76 crore and opening rubber dams on River Musi. There will be a public meeting at the NTR Stadium .

In the evening, GHMC built housing colony at a cost of Rs. 23 crore at Bahadurpally and a stone for a Rock Garden at Jubilee Hills estimated to cost Rs. 20 crore is to be laid.
