Motorist knocks down pedestrian

HYDERABAD: A teenager riding a Bajaj Pulsar bike rammed into four persons crossing the road on Tank Bund near Brahma Naidu statue killing one of them on Monday.

Shaik K. Baji, 37, his friends, Chinna Saidu and Srinu, and another unidentified man were walking back to the pavement after watching waters of Hussainsagar when the motorcyclist heading towards Secunderabad crashed into them. Death was instant for Baji while Saidu and Srinu sustained critical injuries.

The fourth injured person was discharged after being treated at a hospital. Police identified the motorcyclist as Vishnu of Abids, who reportedly fled the accident spot. Hailing from Kotcharla in Guntur district, Baji came to see his ailing mother-in-law admitted in a private hospital at Indira Park.

After calling on her, he went to the Tank Bund along with his friend and was returning to hospital when the accident occurred.
