Facility to observe solar eclipse

Kozhikode: The Regional Science Centre (RSC) and Planetarium here will organise a solar eclipse observation programme with its telescope on the terrace of the Zoological Survey of India building, adjacent to the planetarium.

On July 22

The observation with a solar filter-fitted high-end telescope will start at 6.15 a.m. on July 22, subject to clear sky.

The planetarium has arranged for 500 solar goggles for the public to view the eclipse along with the telescope.

Solar eclipse slideshow and film show will be organised at the planetarium auditorium for the public at 2.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. from July 18 to 20, according to an official release. A lecture on total solar eclipse will be held at 5 p.m. on July 20.

A poster exhibition will be held from July 18 to 21, V.S. Ramachandran, project coordinator, Regional Science Centre, said here on Thursday. He said only a partial solar eclipse would be witnessed in Kozhikode.
