VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology (APCOST) is conducting an awareness programme on solar eclipse on Friday. The programme will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Regional Science Centre at Bhavanipuram. The APCOST is also setting up a telescope and providing filters to view the rare celestial event that would occur on July 22. The viewing demo, however, will begin only at 3.30 p.m. Students and general public can avail themselves of the facility to view the event. Officer in-charge of the APCOST J. Dhilleswara Rao said in a statement on Wednesday that competitions like poster presentation, elocution and essay-writing on solar eclipse would be conducted at the venue for school students. He advised students to call phone numbers 0866-2414161 or 2414168 for further details.
