Training for NCC cadets begins

For a cause: NCC cadets donating blood at the training camp in Nellore on Friday. —

NELLORE: The fifth Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) for National Cadet Corps has been started in the city on Friday. Cadets from Chittoor, Kadapa, Nellore and Ananthapur districts are participating in the 10-day camp.

Speaking on the occasion, Camp Commandant Major Manav Deshwal said the aim of the camp is to train the cadets for certificate examinations for A, B and C categories. The cadets will undergo training in NCC syllabus, weapon training, map reading, social service, social forestry and traffic management. Besides, guest lectures, personality development classes, drill, quiz, essay writing and cultural programmes will be held. About 700 students from seven units including 10 Andhra Naval NCC unit, 2 Andhra R&V regiment are participating in the training camp, said Mr. Deshwal.

Earlier, the cadets took part in the blood donation camp .

Deputy Camp Commandant Colonel Pankaj Kumar, MCPOs S.K. Singh and V.K. Varma, IRCS Blood Bank convenor V. Ravindra, Youth Red Cross convenor N. Prabhakar, motivator M. Bhaskar Naidu and the personnel from Navy and Army participated.
