Cherie Blair LONDON: Cherie Blair, wife of the former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has become the most high-profile victim of suspected A(H1N1) flu in the U.K. which has claimed 29 deaths across the country so far. Ms. Blair was forced to cancel a number of engagements, including a ceremony at Liverpool Hope University where she was to be awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws for her work on human rights, after she felt unwell. Doctors gave her a course of Tamiflu. “Cherie is a good friend of the university and our work. On this occasion she had unfortunately had to withdraw, but we cannot comment further,” the university’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor Bill Chambers told the BBC. A spokesperson for Ms. Blair said she had to pull out of the event because of suspected A(H1N1) flu.
