NELLORE: Members of the Andhra Pradesh Hotels’ Association (APHA) has demanded the government to impose single sales tax system for all types of hotels in the State. Speaking at the APHA State-level executive committee meeting here on Friday, association president G.V. Krishnaiah has said the government is collecting 4 per cent tax from the hotels, which are getting below Rs.1.50 crore income per annum and 12 per cent tax from the hotels, which are making more than Rs. 1.50 crore business. We would ask for the government to give subsidy on power, water and on taxes for hotels and restaurants and give industry status for hospitality industry, said Mr. Krishnaiah. Association secretary B. Jagadishwara Rao said the government is collecting interest rates between 12 to 17 per cent from the hoteliers and appealed to provide loans at 5 per cent interest as the investment cost has been increased abnormally. He appealed to the government to increase the closing time for all hotels and restaurants till 12 a.m. due to rise in tourism in the State. The association members released a website: www.apha.in for providing State-wide information on hotels and restaurants to the public.
