Cane growers of Chamarajanagar to get their dues

Correspondent

CHAMARAJANAGAR: The Bannari sugar factory management has agreed to pay a balance of Rs. 1.28 crore to the sugarcane growers of Chamarajanagar district. In a meeting held here on Friday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the farmers put pressure on the factory management to release the balance amount to 2,478 farmers.

The balance amount is what the management had to pay farmers for the year 2007-08.

They also demanded that the factory management give the balance of Rs. 50 to each farmer who supplied the sugarcane to the factory during the last year.

President of the Sugarcane Growers’ Association Kuruboor Shantha Kumar was among those present.
