Tuticorin: M. Karupasamy, 57, a Village Administrative Officer of Melamarudhur, Ottapidaram Taluk, was arrested on graft charges on Friday. He had reportedly demanded a sum of Rs. 3, 000 from S. Shanmugaraj of A. Kumarapuram, for a land patta transfer. Based on the complaint lodged with Department of Vigilance and Anti corruption, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, B. Thangasamy, along with Inspector, M. Edison, conducted a raid at a private office in Ottapidaram, where the VAO was caught red-handed and arrested thereafter. An unaccounted amount of Rs. 2,70, 000 was also confiscated.
