Facility also gives turn-by-turn directions to the visitor Also suggests more than one route, distance and approximate time NEW DELHI: For those who always have trouble finding their way to Indira Gandhi International Airport here, there is now an easy way to get there. A new interactive feature has been added on the IGI Airport’s website -- www.newdelhiairport.in -- that allows visitors to get information on road directions to and from the airport. Easy to useSo, for instance, if a passenger has to reach the international terminal from Malviya Nagar in the Capital, all that one is required to do is access the website through a computer, click on the icon “Passenger Information”, and proceed to “IGI Airport Interactive Map”. The user can then fill in the details to obtain the directions to Terminal 2 and can get driving instructions for the same. The facility also gives turn-by-turn directions to the visitor. What’s more, the new feature also suggests more than one route, the distance and the approximate time needed to reach the destination. “This service is based on the highly detailed Google maps service, provided by the internet major Google. Perhaps we will also have to request them to give a footnote on the page claiming that the travelling time depends on the traffic situation on the Capital’s roads,” said an official of the Delhi International Airport Limited, the operator of the IGI Airport. Other cities too“The mapping system not only works within the National Capital Region but also from other cities to the airport. This is highly useful for those who may not be familiar with the way to Delhi airport while driving in from their native places,” he added. The new feature can also be extended to search for other services available around the airport. For example, in the option “Search Nearby”, if one types “pizza”, the user will get the locations of the nearest eateries serving the Italian dish. Typing “hotel” in the box will show the locations of the nearest hotels to Delhi airport. One can also search for other locations like hospitals and embassies. The website also gives flight schedules of all airlines operating from Delhi and live flight status, which is routed via the Flight Information Display System installed inside the terminals. “We are working towards providing other features on the website which would also include a mobile enabled version that would replicate all features in a mobile friendly format,” said the official.
