Move to modernise land records in Rajasthan

Special Correspondent

‘Documents uploaded on Internet’

JAIPUR: Revenue Minister Hemaram Chaudhary announced in the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday that the State Government would shortly submit a project on modernisation of land records to the Centre after the successful computerisation of papers at all 33 district headquarters.

Speaking during Question Hour, Mr. Chaudhary said Rajasthan was earlier not included among the 20 States which received Central assistance for modernisation of land and revenue records. “We have now made available records pertaining to 316 crore hectare land across the State on Internet,” he added.

Of the previous Central assistance of Rs.34.84 crore, Rs.29.59 crore was spent on computerisation, he said, adding that though the documents uploaded on Internet had legal validity the banks could not be compelled to accept them for sanctioning loans.

Replying to the original question by Rao Rajendra Singh (BJP), the Minister said the computers installed at the tehsil level were not connected with the computer centres at the district headquarters.

The compact disks containing the data are sent twice a month to the district headquarters for updating the information available on Internet.
