Thiruvananthapuram: The partial phase of the total solar eclipse of the longest duration in the 21st century that will occur on July 22 will be visible in five places in Kerala. A press note issued by S. Sen, Director of the Positional Astronomy Centre , Kolkata released by M.D. Ramachandran, Director-in-charge, Meteorological Centre, Observatory here on Friday said the partial phase would be visible in Kannur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. The path of totality of the eclipse would pass through thickly populated regions of west, central, east and north-east India. The partial phase would be visible throughout the country. In general, the partial phase would be visible in eastern Asia and the Pacific Ocean region. The next solar eclipse which will be an annual solar eclipse will occur on January 15, 2010.
