Job racket: 2 held
Staff Reporter
KOCHI: The police have registered a case against two persons on charges of cheating people after promising jobs abroad.
Rahim, 40, of Kadavanthra, and Jacob, 32, of Kottarakkara had sent 62 persons to Russia through their firm Malabar Court Recruitment Centre at Kalathiparambu Road.
Even though these persons were promised jobs there, they were all sent on visit visas and were trapped. All except 12 of the victims returned with the help of the Union Ministry for Overseas Indian Affairs.
On Friday, 30 of them went to the recruiting centre’s office and stopped the accused from leaving the premises.
A police team on hearing about the unrest took the two into custody.
