DEHRA DUN: A man axed a leopard in a bid to save his wife from the jaws of the feline that entered their kitchen in Kumrada village of Uttarkashi district around 6 a.m. on Friday. The leopard entered the kitchen and attacked Sarojini as she was making tea. Sarojini put her hand inside its mouth and shouted for help. Her husband Vijendra, after failing to frighten away the animal, picked up an axe and killed it. The residents have urged the authorities to give an award to the brave couple as the leopard had attacked many people in the area.
Meanwhile, a leopard and its cubs have been seen moving around in Baniyawala, Rangharwala and Gorakhpur areas on the outskirts of Dehra Dun over the past several days. Forest officials said they had placed cages trap the leopard and the cubs.
