21 bags of ration rice seized

KRISHNAGIRI: Twenty-one bags (622 kg) of ration rice kept unaccounted at a ration shop in Kodiayalam, Thali taluk, were seized by revenue officials here on Saturday.

Officials raided the shop on the basis of complaints from the public and seized the rice. District Revenue Officer A. Shanmugasundaram told presspersons that the salesman of the fair price shop Sivamani had been suspended. A criminal case would be filed against him shortly.

Dereliction of duty

One more salesman Sankar from Manganurpatti in Uthangarai taluk was placed under suspension on the charges of dereliction of duty. The public had complained that the shop had not been opened for three consecutive days. Officials went to the site and inquired the public. Based on the report submitted by the officials he was suspended, Mr. Shanmugasundaram added.
