Minister inspects road re-laying work

Re-laying work carried out on seven roads

In other 11 roads, works to be taken up at a later stage


VIRUDHUNAGAR: Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, on Saturday inspected the road re-laying work on the roads that were dug up for undertaking underground drainage works.

Mr. Ramachandran said that Rs. 2 crore had been allocated for the project.

The re-laying works were being carried out on seven roads including Soundarapandiyan Road, Sathyamoorthy Road, Goodshed Road, Perali Road.

Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board that has been executing the underground drainage works have completed their trials on these areas after laying the pipelines.

Pending trials

However, in other 11 roads where the pipelines have been laid the board officials were yet to complete their trials.

Hence, the repairs works on the roads including Kamarajar By-pass Road, Pullalakottai Road, Burma Colony, Azhagarsamy Street, Fatima Nagar, Old Aruppukottai Road, Thanthimara Street would be taken up at a later stage. Contractors of National Highways Authority of India had taken up the repair works on the T. T. K. Road.

The Collector, Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan, Virudhunagar Municipal Chairman, Karthika Karikolraj, Highways Divisional Engineer, Ramasubbu and Municipal Commissioner, Kalyanasundaram, were present.
