Man waylaid, stabbed to death

Staff Reporter

37-year-old Raju Goud allegedly involved in the killing of a gangster’s brother

Police on the lookout for one of his associates who was the only eyewitness

HYDERABAD: A 37-year-old man, D. Raju Goud, was waylaid and stabbed to death while he was passing by Saleemnagar in Malakpet on a scooter on Saturday afternoon. Accompanied by one of his acquaintances, Goud from Saroornagar was going towards Chaderghat when a group of persons intercepted the two-wheeler near a bylane around 1.30 p.m. Even before he could ask what they were up-to, the assailants attacked him with knives while the pillion rider, who is yet to be identified, fled the spot.

The pillion rider, only eyewitness to the murder, rang up one of the victim’s family members, told them that Goud was attacked and hung up. Police are trying to trace him based on the number of the mobile phone from which he made the call. A resident of the locality alerted the police control room about the murder, the Malakpet ACP, Suhas Chaturvedi, said.

The victim was allegedly involved in the killing of one Ganesh Goud, younger brother of late ‘gangster’ Kotha Das, in 1991 but was acquitted of the charge by the court. Police suspect that the family members or close relatives of Ganesh and Kotha Das could be behind the murder.
