Association celebrates 40th nationalisation day

Udupi: The Udupi District Bank Employees Association celebrated the 40th bank nationalisation day by organising a rally in front of the Regional Office of Syndicate Bank here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of the association U. Shivaraya said that the nationalisation of banks had brought important changes in the social and economic sectors of the country. The moves by the Union Government to either merge or privatise the public sector banks was a regressive step, he said and added that disinvestment of public sector banks was also a regressive course.
