VIJAYAWADA: Some unidentified persons allegedly damaged the house of a TDP leader located at Patamata here on Monday. Patatama police said two youths allegedly approached TDP leader Gummadi Krishna Rao urging him to help them secure a seat in a private engineering college. The duo reportedly referred to one Rama Rao of Gunadala, but Mr. Krishna Rao said told them that he was not aware of any person by that name. He expressed his inability to help them. Even as the duo stepped out, a mob of about 10 persons allegedly attacked the TDP leader’s house and damaged some property. They damaged window panes of a car parked in front of his house as well as windows of the house. The gunman of Praja Rajyam Party MLA Yelamanchili Ravi, who resides very close to TDP leader’s house, overheard the noise and rushed to the spot. The mob fled the spot even as neighbours rushed there. They could nab S. Raghava, one of the accused in the incident. The police were on the look out for another two persons, including a former history sheeter Venkata Rao, a resident of Yanamalakuduru. The police registered a case and were investigating. Though rumours did the rounds that followers of former MLA Devineni Rajasekhar were behind the attack, the police said they did not receive any such complainant.
