Vijayawada
K. Ajay Kumar VIJAYAWADA: K. Ajay Kumar, a native of Krishna district and an officer of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) 1982 batch, took over as Commissioner, Income Tax, Vijayawada on Monday. The outgoing Commissioner R.C. Pramanik, who was transferred to Kochi, handed over the charge to Mr. Ajay Kumar at a simple function attended by additional commissioners and other staff in the new building housing the IT offices on Siddhartha Public School road. Mr. Ajay Kumar earlier worked as Additional Commissioner in Vijayawada from April 1997 to January 2002, and was assisting one of the members of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) in New Delhi in tax collections prior to the present posting. He said that the “macro perspective” he gained while working in the CBDT would be of use in discharging his duties as Commissioner with jurisdiction over Krishna and Khammam districts. Mr. Pramanik, who was given a warm farewell by the officers and staff, said that he thoroughly enjoyed working in Vijayawada for almost four years. He did not think that the prevailing economic recession had in any way impacted the revenue collections.
