‘Vijayawada IT zone is an integrated township with “walk to work” concept’ 100-foot wide double road from the IT zone directly to the NH-5 also ready
High tech: The first phase of IT Park at Kesarapalli near Vijayawada is all set for inauguration by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. VIJAYAWADA: The first of the five towers proposed in the Vijayawada IT/ITES Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Kesarapalli, opposite Gannavaram airport, will be ready for occupation by month-end. The project, called the “L&T Hitech City Limited”, is a joint venture of the Larsen and Toubro Infocity Limited and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIIC). L&T Hitech City chief project officer V.Udaya Bhaskar told The Hindu that the first IT tower of 1.92 lakh square feet of built-up area would be ready for occupation by the month-end. The APIIC was in the process of fixing a date for inauguration by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. An impressive 100-foot wide double road from the IT zone directly to the National Highway-5 is also ready. This is in addition to the narrow road that runs along the rear compound wall of the veterinary college that was earlier the only approach. Mr. Bhaskar said that the Vijayawada IT zone was an integrated township with “walk to work” concept. The first tower is a four-floored structure on stilts having a large floor plate of 39,000 square feet. Other special characteristics of the building are the low column density (clear spacing of more than 10 metres between them) and impressive high ceiling (floor to floor height of 3.9 metres). The double height entrance lobby and spacious lift lobby adds to the impressive ambience. A food court with a seating capacity of 250, fitness centre, business centre, ATM, helpdesk and an amphitheatre were some of the additional amenities available to the occupants, Mr. Bhaskar said.
