CRY invites research proposals on child rights

BANGALORE: Interested in studying and researching various aspects of child rights in an emerging economy and evolving society like India?

Child Rights and You, popularly known as CRY, a non-governmental organisation that works with children, has invited applications from researchers interested in exploring child rights.

About 10 applicants will be selected from all over India and provided grants ranging between Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 1,00,000, for the research work.

The National Child Rights Research Fellowships were started to encourage new findings on why children are deprived of their rights and ways in which the rights may be guaranteed.

“We find that on the one hand, the Constitution of India speaks of the State-citizen relationship in terms of rights and duties, but on the other hand, how these rights and duties are interpreted is not always in terms of the best interests of the child,” says Dipankar Majumder, Director, CRY.

Any resident of India aged above 18 is eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who have studied in government schools. The research period can be up to one year. The last date for receipt of applications is September 12.
