SALEM: The State Government in association with a non-governmental organisation is running a special training institute at the Corporation Primary School located in Arunachala Aasari Street here for the benefit of hearing and speech impaired children. Parents can admit children aged below three years in the institute, which provides training free of cost. The objective of the initiative is to identify children with hearing and speech impairment and provide early intervention. This would ensure maximum development of the child’s potential. The children will be given hearing aid free of cost through the government and special teachers will conduct the training. A sum of Rs. 10 will be given as travel allowance per day to the students. Salem district administration has asked the parents to utilise the opportunity to admit the children in the institute. More information can be obtained by dialling phone numbers: 0427-2415242, 9626561785.
