TENALI: A minor flutter was created on the premises of Government Hospital at Tenali after relatives of a farmer, who died on Tuesday, accused the staff at the mortuary of gross negligence in the safeguarding of bodies. They alleged that rats had eaten away the face of the farmer. Body of D. Yohan, a farm labourer, who died on Tuesday after allegedly consuming pesticide at Duggirala, allegedly due to family conflicts, was kept at the mortuary for conducting a post mortem. But on Wednesday morning, the relatives found to their horror that the face had been disfigured apparently due to rat bites and there were several marks around neck. The infuriated relatives, with the help of a media channel which aired the story, demanded an explanation from the hospital staff. Hospital in-charge superintendent Sujatha said that she would ask an explanation from the staff. She also admitted that the there were some problems in the maintenance of mortuary unit in the hospital.
