NEW DELHI: Host India has got four wild card entries for the World badminton championships to be held in Hyderabad from August 10. The wild card entries are P. Kashyap (men’s singles), Sayale Gokhale (women’s singles), Arun Vishnu and Tarun Kona (men’s doubles) and Aparna Balan and Shruti Kurien (women’s doubles). Altogether 18 Indian players will take part in the championships. China and Malaysia will have the biggest contingents with 26 players each. Apart from the men’s and women’s singles, India has three entries in men’s doubles competition. While Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas meet 14th-seeded Japanese duo of K. Tarun and Arun Vishnu will challenge 13th-seeded Hung Ling Chen and Yu Lang Lin of Chinese Taipei. Aparna and Shruti, who have been offered a first round bye, will face the second-seeded Chinese combine of Shu Cheng and Yunlei Zhao in the next round.
