Court grants time to file counter

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has granted time till August 3 for the authorities to file a counter to a writ petition seeking a direction to the Chancellor of Anna University - Coimbatore and others to take action against the Vice-Chancellor and direct the police to investigate a complaint against him.

When the matter came up before the First Bench headed by Chief Justice H.L. Gokhale, the respondents, particularly the Vice-Chancellor, R. Radhakrishnan, sought time to file counter.

Following this, the Bench granted time till August 3 and posted the matter for August 6.

In his petition, S. Sivapandi of R.A. Puram here, an advocate, submitted that Dr. Radhakrishnan after assuming office, “started misusing the power for personal ends.”
