Naveen, Duke on song

MYSORE: Opener M.G. Naveen’s fine knock of 170 (20x4, 1x6) and an unbeaten 98 (10x4) by all-rounder Duke Cauvery helped Sree Saradha Public School (Mandya) register a thumping 219-run win over Gyana Ganga HS in a Group ‘A’ league match of the ACUK district-level inter-school cricket tournament at the Gangothri Glades grounds here on Thursday.

An all-round performance by Dheeraj, who hit a century and later took three wickets, saw Vasavi Vidyaniketan beat St. Mary’s HS by 16 runs.

The scores: Sree Saradha PS (Mandya) 306 for five in 30 overs (M.G. Naveen 170, Duke Cauvery 98 n.o.) bt Gyana Ganga HS 87 in 25.5 overs ( Md. Hassan four for 19); Vasavi Vidyaniketan 225 for three in 30 overs (Dheeraj 101, Hemanth 30 n.o.) bt St. Mary’s HS 209 for eight in 30 overs (Ashun Shetty 74, Kishore 37, Dheeraj three for 37); JSS (S’puram) 102 in 23.2 overs (Srinivas 38, Vinod Gowda 25) bt sadvidya HS 98 in 18.2 overs (D.K. Niranjan 39, Vinod Gowda four for 28, Basavaraj three for 28).
