Udupi: A convict who was out on parole committed suicide in a lodge at Kundapur in Udupi district. Deputy Superintendent of Police Vishwanth Pandit said on Thursday that convict Satish Shetty, around 40 years of age, was serving a life imprisonment sentence at Mysore jail in connection with a murder case which took place in 1990. He came out on parole. He had taken a room in a lodge in Kundapur. He committed suicide on Wednesday. When there was no response from his room on Thursday, the manager of the lodge contacted the police. The police then broke into the room and found him hanging from the ceiling fan. Shetty had left behind a suicide note. The matter was being investigated, Mr. Pandit said. — Staff Correspondent
