Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here on Wednesday that the government was planning a lake circuit in the district to boost tourism potential. The project is estimated to cost Rs.2.43 crore. Mr. Balakrishnan said the first phase of the project covering Kadhinamkulam in the south to Attingal in the north had been accorded administrative sanction. The Kadhinamkulam lake circuit will link Kayikkara, Vakkom, Pulinthuruthi, Pulimoottilkadavu and Murukkumpuzha. An amount of Rs.13.7 lakh will be spent to set up a children’s park at Thiruvarattukadavu in Attingal. LandscapingSelected locations will be landscaped. The project includes the construction of nine floating jetties. Each jetty is estimated to cost Rs.8.9 lakh. Play areaA play area for children is to be constructed in the Anchamkadavu- Pulimoottilkadavu area at a cost of Rs.6.25 lakh. PavilionThe project includes an allocation of Rs.44.58 lakh for a pavilion to view boat races.
