HYDERABAD: Marriage is not a union of two individuals but two families, said Asif Pasha, CEO of VivahaBandhan.com, a wedding portal, which was launched here on Friday.

The portal launched by Avvas Infotech Private Limited, a Bangalore-based company is the first-of-its-kind online matrimonial website with offline service centres.

Addressing the media, Mani Sharma, Chairman, Avvas said the portal provides only profiles of individuals whose background and details have been verified.

Aim

It also hopes to make the search for matrimonial profiles easier, said Mr. Pasha. The offline matrimonial centres will work in tandem with the portal and will arrange personal meeting between prospective brides and grooms. The counsellors at the centre would make a note of individual preferences as well as family preferences and help create a profile, Mr.Pasha added.

To bridge the gap between privacy and security issues related to photo sharing and verification online, the offline centres would run background checks, he said. “This ensures that the profiles one get to see are of high quality and authenticated properly,” he added. Though the portal offers free registration to create a profile, the features for a free-user would be limited. However, the website offers premium packages for three months, six months and one year for Rs.900, Rs.1,500 and Rs.2,800 respectively.

Those availing the premium packages would be entitled to special benefits such as one-on-one interaction, SMS facility alerting the user each time his or her profile is viewed etc., permission to view photo, contact and horoscope details, matchmaking service etc.
