Sivakasi blast death toll up to 17

MADURAI: The death toll in the blast at a fireworks unit at Namaskarithanpatti near Sivakasi on Monday rose to 17 with two more persons succumbing to their injuries on Saturday.

Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, said that a compensation of Rs.1 lakh would be provided by the government to the families of these two victims.
