JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has decided to set up new 765-KV Grid sub-stations in Jaipur and Kota districts to facilitate transmission of power produced by the proposed super critical thermal power station at Chhabra and another power plant at Kalisindh. Energy Minister Jitendra Singh said here on Saturday that with the installation of the new grid sub-station Rajasthan would join the select band of States which are creating a state-of-the-art power transmission infrastructure. Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam has sanctioned a scheme worth Rs.2,756 crore in this connection. Mr. Singh said the project for establishment of the grid sub-station, installation of transmission lines and creation of network and infrastructure would be completed in the next three years. A 400-KV grid sub-station will also be set up in Ajmer under the project. The Vidyut Prasaran Nigam has approved a budget of Rs.1,598.96 crore for 2009-10, which is 30.42 per cent more than that passed in the previous year. According to Mr. Singh, a provision of Rs.1,233 crore has been made for the Nigam under the Plan head this year. As part of the continuing programme for installation of grid sub-stations for supply of electricity of high quality, 23 new grid sub-stations of 440, 220 and 132 KV capacities are proposed to be established in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Bhilwara, Sikar, Jalore, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Alwar and Hanumangarh districts.
