Reddy hits double century

Chennai: Opener L.N. Prasad Reddy constructed an innings of 201 (444b, 21x4, 1x6) for IOB against UFCC (T. Nagar) on the second day of the fourth round match in the TNCA first division league at Chepauk on Saturday.

A.S.K. Varma made 72 (186b, 9x4) as IOB declared at 439 for five. UFCC was 88 without loss in reply.

Globe Trotters outplayed Southern Railway by an innings and 57 runs at the MRF-Pachaiyappa’s ground. Leg-spinner A. Edward Kennedy and offie Sunny Gupta claimed four wickets each as Southern Railway, following on, was shot out for 105.

Vijay openers Abhinav Mukund (113, 132b, 17x4) and K.B. Arun Karthick (121, 122b, 11x4, 2x6) put on 221 runs in 36.4 overs against Parry’s at IC-Guru Nanak. Vijay eventually declared at 454 for eight with R. Prasanna scoring 95 (123b, 7x4, 3x6) and S. Sathish Kumar 51 (54b, 5x4).

Having conceded a lead of 312, Parry’s was 87 for three in its second innings.

Sadagopan Ramesh, overnight 89, completed a century (101, 187b, 13x4, 1x6) for Young Stars against Grand Slam at the RKM-Vivekananda ground. However, Wilkins Victor (94, 203b, 11x4, 2x6) missed the three-figure mark. Grand Slam left-arm spinner V. Arun Kumar prised out five batsmen.

Zero for two at one stage and pursuing 322 for the lead, Grand Slam recovered through a 181-run partnership for the third wicket between opener E. Aswin (102, 152b, 15x4, 2x6) and K. Shree Vasudeva Dass (84 batting, 170b, 13x4). The side was 223 for three at close.

At the IIT-Chemplast ground, N. Ajay Kudua (133 not out, 234b, 15x4) and J. Syed Mohammad (100 not out, 169b, 6x4) added an unbeaten 209 runs in 54.3 overs for the eighth wicket to enable Jolly Rovers declare at 514 for seven against Aruna. At stumps, Aruna was 102 for three

At IC-Guru Nanak: Parry’s 142 & 87 for three in 37 overs (Juzer Abbas 47 batting) vs Vijay 454 for eight decl. in 80.2 overs (Abhinav Mukund 113, K.B. Arun Karthick 121, R. Prasanna 95, S. Suresh Kumar 51).

At CPT-IP: India Pistons 331 for nine decl in 112 overs (K.H. Gopinath 185) vs Indian Bank 134 for five in 66 overs (L. Suryapprakash 72).

At IIT-Chemplast: Jolly Rovers 514 for seven decl. in 145 overs (R. Sathish 42, D. Karthik 72, Gowjith Subash 67, N. Ajay Kudua 133 not out, J. Syed Mohammad 100 not out) vs Aruna 102 for three in 34 overs.

At RKM-Viveka: Young Stars 321 in 114.1 overs (Wilkins Victor 94, Sadagopan Ramesh 101, V. Arun Kumar five for 114) vs Grand Slam 223 for three in 60 overs (E. Aswin 102, K. Shree Vasudeva Dass 84 batting).

Sriram bats well

Sriram Sridharan’s unbeaten 51 helped SSN Engineering College beat Satyabama University by eight wickets to reach the semifinals of the Sai Ram Trophy.

The scores: Satyabama University 90 for nine in 20 overs (Nitin three for 12) lost to SSN Engineering College 91 for two in 11.1 overs (Sriram Sridharan 51 not out).

SIET 94 for nine in 20 overs lost to SRM Eswari Engineering College 95 for three in 12 overs (Manoj 37 not out).

Bomb shines

A. Luv Bomb (32 & four for 36) enabled St. John’s beat SBOA MHSS by 20 runs in the TNCA-Boost Cup city schools u-16 cricket tournament here.

The scores: St. John’s 163 in 27.4 overs (B. Dinesh 62, A. Luv Bomb 32, Arvind Azar four for 26) bt SBOA MHSS 143 in 28.3 overs (Sai Prashanth 44, A. Luv Bomb four for 36).
