Momentous: Orator Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy releases souvenir of Narada Gana Sabha in Karur. Karur Vysya Bank Director M.G.S. Ramesh Babu, left, receives the first copy. KARUR: The 65th anniversary celebrations of the Narada Gana Sabha got off to a tremendous reception here on Saturday. An array of programmes, including carnatic music, bharatanatyam performances and drama, has been lined up over the next 10 days to mark the annual celebrations of stage and fine arts in the industrial town. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Karur Vysya Bank P.T. Kuppuswamy inaugurated the celebrations in which renowned religious orator and scholar Velukkudi Krishnan Swamy released a special souvenir brought out on the occasion of the 65th anniversary celebrations of the Sabha. KVB Director M.G.S. Ramesh Babu received the first copy. Sabha president A.S. Janarthanan presided over the function in which secretary V. Anand and others participated. While Krishnan Swamy is holding a religious discourse for three days, performance by eminent artistes such as Mandolin U. Srinivas, P. Unnikrishnan, S. Mahathi, Nithyasree Mahadevan, Malladi Brothers Sriram Prasad and Ravikumar, a comedy stage drama and a dance drama on ‘Sri Venkatadri Vaibhavam’ have been planned to provide a treat to the connoisseurs of Karur. On Saturday, as part of the inaugural, winners of various music competitions for school students held ahead of the celebrations were honoured with certificates and awards.
