Payment stopped, transfers too

BANGALORE: After the money-for-transfer issue was raised in the Legislative Assembly during the current session, the corporations withdrew the scheme even as they decided not to allow inter-corporation transfer of employees below the level of supervisors.

Sources in KSRTC said when inter-corporation transfers, particularly of drivers, were on, there was a north-south divide. While corporations in the South (read KSRTC and BMTC) faced operational difficulties (as a majority of drivers were from the north), corporations in the north (NW and NEKRTC) were unable even to pay salaries.

Industry watchers feel that the Government and the corporations were not keen on bringing NWKRTC and NEKRTC out of the red. After they were made separate entities, the corporations in the south continued to enjoy focussed administration while those two in the north were left to fend for themselves.
