Chennai: A double century from K. Shree Vasudeva Dass and a hundred by Hemang Badani — both unbeaten efforts — enabled Grand Slam gain the lead over Young Stars on the final day of the fourth round in the TNCA first division league here on Sunday. Pursuing 322 for the lead at the RKM-Vivekananda ground and beginning the day at 223 for three, Grand Slam did not lose a wicket as Vasudeva Dass (202 not out, 348b, 25x4, 1x6) and Hemang Badani (129 not out, 217b, 15x4) put on an unbeaten 270 runs in 71 overs. After the heroics of leg-spinner A. Edward Kennedy (six for four) for Globe Trotters against Southern Railway on Saturday, it was the turn of the India Pistons spinners, offie M. Prabhu and left-armer M. Suresh Babu (both scalped nine batsmen each in the match), to script a 113-run win over Indian Bank. Spin holds swaySpin held sway at the CPT-IP ground with Indian Bank getting dismissed for 202 in the first innings and 88 in the second; it was set a target of 202 in 48 overs after India Pistons declared at 72 for two. And Vijay bowled out Parry’s for 243 in the second innings to win by an innings and 69 runs at the IC-Guru Nanak ground.
