Shree Vasudeva Dass and Badani sizzle

Chennai: A double century from K. Shree Vasudeva Dass and a hundred by Hemang Badani — both unbeaten efforts — enabled Grand Slam gain the lead over Young Stars on the final day of the fourth round in the TNCA first division league here on Sunday.

Pursuing 322 for the lead at the RKM-Vivekananda ground and beginning the day at 223 for three, Grand Slam did not lose a wicket as Vasudeva Dass (202 not out, 348b, 25x4, 1x6) and Hemang Badani (129 not out, 217b, 15x4) put on an unbeaten 270 runs in 71 overs.

After the heroics of leg-spinner A. Edward Kennedy (six for four) for Globe Trotters against Southern Railway on Saturday, it was the turn of the India Pistons spinners, offie M. Prabhu and left-armer M. Suresh Babu (both scalped nine batsmen each in the match), to script a 113-run win over Indian Bank.

Spin holds sway

Spin held sway at the CPT-IP ground with Indian Bank getting dismissed for 202 in the first innings and 88 in the second; it was set a target of 202 in 48 overs after India Pistons declared at 72 for two.

And Vijay bowled out Parry’s for 243 in the second innings to win by an innings and 69 runs at the IC-Guru Nanak ground.

At IC-Guru Nanak: Parry’s 142 & 243 in 95.4 overs (Juzer Abbas 67, N. Raghavendran 54) lost to Vijay 454 for eight decl. Vijay 8, Parry’s 0.

At RKM-Viveka: Young Stars 321 drew with Grand Slam 451 for three decl. in 118 overs (E. Aswin 102, K. Shree Vasudeva Das 202 not out, Hemang Badani 129 not out). Grand Slam 5; Young Stars 2.

At IIT-Chemplast: Jolly Rovers 514 for seven decl. drew with Aruna 373 for eight in 127 overs (C. Hemant Kumar 147, Ashwin Venkataraman 64). Rovers 3; Aruna 3.

At MAC: IOB 439 for five decl. drew with UFCC (T. Nagar) 340 for four in 132 overs (M. Santhosh Gopi 100, Sambasiva Sarma 68, S. Sharath 68 not out, M. Kamesh 53 not out). IOB 3; UFCC 3 .

Sunder shines

Sunder scored 77 runs as Kanniah CC beat Ebenezer Marcus CC in an under-12 match of the Dr. Vimala Convent- CSCA trophy held here.

The scores: Kanniah CA 146 for seven in 20 overs (Sunder 77) bt Ebenezer Marcus CA 138 for six in 20 overs ( Rakesh 33, Sai 33); Budding Stars CA 118 in 21 overs (Vijay 31, Guru Swaminathan three for 21) bt Chennai Stars CA 108 in 23.4 overs (Deepak 34 not out).

FSCA posts win

S. Ranganathan scored 65 runs to help Future Stars CA (FSCA) register a 54 run-win over Stag CC in a third division match of the Tiruvallur District Cricket Association League.

Lucas TVS-TDCA Trophy: Alkraft Termotech 158 for eight in 30 overs (M. Sakthivel 50, Ramakrishnan 46, Nagarajan four for 37, Karthik three for 33] lost to OCF Avadi 162 for seven in 29 overs (Karthick 67, N. Balasubramanian three for 63).

YSCA keeps crown

YSCA registered a three-run victory over Arihant Pharmaceuticals to claim the Kalapathi-YSCA Trophy, for the second year running, here on Sunday.

The scores: YSCA 163 for nine in 30 overs (M. Thangadurai 65, K. Srinivasan 33, Sajjad Hussain four for 45) bt Arihant Pharmaceuticals 160 for seven in 30 overs (Sajjad Hussain 46, Barani Mehta 43, Kamalesh Jain 31 n.o.).
