Panel for low budget film producers

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The State government will constitute a committee to look into the problems of low budget film producers in screening their films.

When members raised concern that big film producers, theatre owners and distributors were forming a syndicate to elbow out small producers, Minister for Information and Public Relations, Cinematography J. Geetha Reddy gave the assurance in the Legislative Council on Tuesday.

The members said with the big producers, exhibitors and distributors monopolising the scene by blocking screens, small film producers were not able to exhibit their films. Good cinema would die if the mafia-like domination was not checked, they added.
