Gang of tricksters busted

Staff Reporter

NALGONDA: The Valigonda police arrested three members of a gang of tricksters allegedly involved in duping several gullible persons on the pretext of selling gold at a comparatively low price in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.

Disclosing this to mediamen in Valigonda on Tuesday, Sub-Inspector of Police D. Pranith Kumar said that G. Shankar, 30, A. Ravi, 45, and Yellaiah, 32, of Saroornagar were detained while trying to deceive a gullible villager at Poddutur in the mandal on Monday evening.

The trio adopted the modus operandi of showing genuine gold items as samples to the unsuspecting persons and offering to sell huge quantity of gold at a price much less than the prevailing market price.

Later, they used to deceive the gullible persons by collecting money and handing over fake gold items, he said.

Some duplicate gold items were recovered from their possession.
