Five child labourers rescued

Relief from misery: Rescued child labourers at the office of Revenue Dvisional Officer in Tirupur on Tuesday.

Tirupur: Five child labourers were rescued from various industrial units and shops in the city by a team of officials from National Child Labour Project (NCLP), departments of labour and police and Inspectorate of Factories on Tuesday.

D. Vijayakumar, project director, NCLP, told reporters that S.Shanti (13) and K. Karthik (14) were rescued from textile units situated at Pandian Nagar and Velliayangadu, while A Nehru (14) was found employed at a coffee powder manufacturing unit situated near the Old Bus Stand.

M. Eswaran (12) and M. Vimal (14) were rescued from shops situated at Velliayangadu and along Tirupur-Kangayam road, respectively.

Raids

In all, the team raided 88 units, shops and establishments, during the day.
