Sweet double for PSG CAS

Coimbatore: PSG College of Arts and Science wrested both the men’s and women’s team titles in the Bharathiar University inter-collegiate table tennis tournament at the Kongunadu Arts and Science College here on Tuesday.

The results (final): Men: PSG CAS bt CMS CAS 3-0. Women: PSG CAS bt Ramakrishna CAS 3-0.

Kumaresh makes merry

A fine knock of 80 by H.S. Kumaresh helped Coimbatore Raiders Cricket Academy score a six-wicket win over Senthil Srinivasan Memorial Club in the TNCA-CDCA third division league for the Servall Trophy at the PSGIMSR grounds on Sunday.

The scores:

Third division: Kaleeswara CC 164 in 46.4 overs (K. Rajesh 51, Dilip 40, Pradeep Kumar four for 41) bt South India Manchester CC 140 in 39.4 overs (Gopinath 31, K. Rajesh three for 31, Ashwin three for 33); R.S. Puram CC 276 in 50 overs (R. Karthikeyan 86, Zahir Husain 62, Ram Kumar three for 36) bt ABT CC 152 in 34.4 overs (Muthukumar 57, Abuthahir four for 26); Senthil Srinivasan MC 146 in 41.2 overs (Selvaraj 53, Balachandran 36, Manikandan four for 41, Kannan four for 42) lost to Coimbatore Raiders 147 for four in 34 overs (H.S. Kumaresh 80).

Useful knocks

At Tirupur, M. Karthikeyan (66) and T. Balakumar (56) chipped in useful scores as Lucky Young Stars Cricket Club defeated Tirupur Cricket Club by 37 runs in the TNCA-DCAT first division league at the TEA Public School grounds recently.

The scores: First division: Lucky Young Stars CC 227 in 48 overs (M. Karthikeyan 66, T. Balakumar 56, N. Prithiviraj 33, M. Uday Kumar two for 31, M. Mohan two for 35) bt Tirupur CC 190 in 42 overs (P. Satheesh Prabhu 40, M. Uday Kumar 27, S. Kaarthi three for 40, V. Nagaraj two for 15).

Second division: Lucky Star CC 105 (Tamil Selvan 37, Ranjan two for 5, Amarnath two for 18) lost to GIO Sports CC 107 for three (Asif 50, K. Sethil two for 33).

Leo on song

At Udhagamandalam, J.C. Leo Christy picked six for 19 in Youngstars Cricket Club’s six-wicket win over Colts Cricket Club in the semifinals of the TNCA-NDCA first division league for the M.A. Chidambaram Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence School grounds on Sunday.

In the other semifinals, Kents Cricket Club posted a narrow four-run win over Nilgiris Cricket Club.
