BANGALORE: Florence Public School, RT Nagar, held its investiture ceremony recently. A.F. Kudroli, chairman of the institution, received the ceremonial salute by the student body. The function began with an impressive march past by the elected members of the student council. Principal Abida administered the oath to Syed Salman and Syeda Nausheen Fathima, secretaries of the student council. They, in turn, administered the oath to the cabinet members and house captains. Acceptance speeches were given by some of the elected student leaders in which they assured the gathering of living up to the school’s expectations and fulfilling their duties and responsibilities with true devotion. On the occasion, the management acknowledged the contribution of teachers towards the excellent results in ICSE and SSLC examinations with a token of appreciation. Mr. Kudroli reminded the leaders to carry out their duties as per their promises and wished them success in all their future endeavours. WOW ’09Presidency Group of Institution will host WOW (War of Words) ’09, an interschool quiz and debate competition for the “Presidency Challenge Cup” at St. John’s Auditorium on August 12. Nandan Nilekani, Head, National Unique Identity Project, will be the chief guest, while Giri “Pickbrain” Balasubraman-iam will host the event. The annual event provides a platform for young minds to showcase their knowledge and passion for quizzing and debating skills while learning new things in a fun-filled environment. WOW ’09 will give an opportunity to children from Bangalore schools to interact with students from various parts of India and abroad as well as sharing the best practices of improving the quality of quizzing and debating in their respective schools. It will cover a wide range of topics such as sports, history, geography, current affairs and everyday science. The event is open for students from classes VI to X. Virupaksha, district superintendent of physical education (south district), was the chief guest. He pinned badges and administered the oath to the new leaders.
