Woman ‘murdered’ by husband

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old woman, Shabana, was strangled to death and burnt allegedly by her husband, Khaiser, in their rented house at M.M. Pahadi of Rajendranagar on Tuesday.

A locksmith, Khaiser, used to quarrel with his wife on family matters frequently and beat her up in drunken condition, the Rajendranagar Inspector K. Rambhoopal Rao, said.

On Tuesday morning, he thrashed his wife after an argument with her.

He sent away his three children, who saw him beating their mother, to the house of his in-laws who live close-by. Around 5 p.m., the police said, the accused throttled the woman to death, dragged the body onto the verandah, poured kerosene on the body and set it afire.

Initially, he pretended that his wife killed herself but later admitted to the murder.
