MLA slaps supermarket staffer

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Secunderabad Cantonment MLA P. Shanker Rao allegedly slapped an employee of a supermarket in West Marredpally for questioning him while entering the market’s godown for inspection.

The incident happened when Mr. Rao along with his supporters and officials of the Civil Supplies Department were inspecting the supermarkets in the area to check hoarding of essential commodities on Monday. An argument ensued between the MLA and supermarket employee when the latter asked him for the reasons behind the inspection. Angered over this, Mr. Rao reportedly slapped him.

On Tuesday, the elected Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) members condemned the alleged high-handed behaviour of the MLA. Police, however, said no case was booked against the legislator because the supermarket management did not lodge a complaint against him.
