Magesh and Arun share second spot

NEW DELHI: Grandmaster P. Magesh Chandran defeated Italy’s Guiseppe Lettieri to join compatriot S. Arun Prasad in the second spot after six rounds of Sitges International Open chess tournament at Sitges, Spain, on Monday.

The two are on five points, one behind Swedish leader Lars Karlsson, who maintained his winning sequence by beating S. Satyapragyan.

Modest finish

The trio of Arghyadip Das, P. Konguvel and Abhijeet Gupta were placed 17 to 19 with 6.5 points as Indians came up with a modest finish in the Paleochora International Open at Paleochora, Greece.
