Jewels, cash stolen

MADURAI: Unidentified miscreants decamped with gold jewels and cash from a locked house in Anbu Nagar near Karuppayoorani here on Wednesday.

Police said that Muthusamy, a retired tahsildar, residing on Siddhi Vinayagar Koil Street in Tahsildar Nagar was away, the miscreants had broken open the front door and gained entry into the house. They had stolen 25 sovereigns of gold jewels and Rs. 15,000 in cash. Karuppayoorani police are investigating.
