It costs Rs. 2.25 crore and can be used to break kidney stones PUDUCHERRY: Lithotripsy equipment will be launched at Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute on Saturday. The Extra Corporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy equipment, which costs Rs. 2.25 crore, is used to break kidney stones. In this method, no wound will be made on a patient’s body and no anaesthesia is required. After treatment, the patient will be able to go home within one or two hours. Five to six persons could be treated every day using this facility, according to a release. Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh, Union Minister of State for Planning, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture V. Narayanasamy, Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam and Ministers would take part in the function.
