Kozhikode: Industries Minister Elamaram Karim has said his department has backed out from the proposal to assign an expert committee under the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) with the study of possibilities of land reclamation from sea owing to ‘unwanted controversies.’ He was inaugurating a development workshop, ‘Industrial growth of Kerala; challenges and progress,’ organised by the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) in association with the Industries Department and the Malabar Chamber of Commerce here on Thursday. Mr. Karim said many of the industrial projects in the State were unable to take off because of ‘unnecessary controversies’ and ‘unconstructive interventions of the media.’ He said the media had to take an unbiased and constructive stand when it came to matters that concerned the future of the State. “And the media, along with political parties, have a vital role to play in that,” he added.
