Governor calls for probity in public life
Correspondent
CHIKMAGALUR: Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has stressed the need for probity and accountability in public life.
Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Bhardwaj said Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, had set a good example by resigning from his post until he was cleared of the allegations levelled against him.
Asked to comment on his role as Law Minister during the Emergency, the Governor said he intended to write a book in three phases on the functioning of the judiciary in the country.
Pointing out that his family was close to the Nehru family, he said he hailed from a good family background and became a Rajya Sabha member and minister with the blessing of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
