HYDERABAD: Members of the Legislative Council have demanded tabling of the report of School Fee Regulatory Committee in the House. Raising the issue during Question Hour, members -- T.G.K. Krishna Reddy(Congress), P. Subba Reddy and P. Sudhakar Reddy (Teachers) -- on Thursday said that the fee regulatory committee appointed by the government following the recent uproar over exorbitant fee charged by private schools did not have representation from teachers or parents. They demanded that the report of the committee, approved by the Chief Minister, should be placed in the House for discussion. Mr. Nageshwar (PDF) said the Supreme Court had given a ruling that education could not become a class preserve and sought to know whether there was any correlation between the standards, facilities and fee. Mr. Sudhakar Reddy emphasised the need to monitor mushrooming of play schools and pre-nursery schools collecting huge fee. Minister for Secondary Education D. Manikya Vara Prasada Rao said that a meeting of teacher MLCs would be convened to discuss the report submitted by the fee regulatory committee and take their views. On stalled teachers’ transfers, he said they were awaiting clarification from the High Court to resume process of teacher transfers .
