Septuagenarian robbed
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A septuagenarian was robbed of her 12-sovereign gold chain on Brahmin Street, Velachery, on Wednesday.
According to police sources, B. Rajammal (70) was alone at home when four persons posing as technicians entered the house on the pretext of rectifying a complaint pertaining to Internet connectivity. While pretending to check the cables, one of the suspects locked the main door. When the woman tried to intervene, the gang brandished deadly weapons and tied her up. They snatched her gold jewellery and escaped. The victim managed to free herself and informed the neighbours. She suffered minor injuries and took first aid in a private hospital, the sources said.
